The SAN Storage Platform will be at risk between 05:00 PM — 11:00 PM, Monday 20th July 2020. It will then be so again between 05:00 PM — 11:00 PM, Tuesday 21st July 2020. This will affect all services using Central SAN Storage, including all services on IS Virtual Hosting.

Work summary
The SAN Storage Platform firmware will be upgraded to the latest stable release. The at-risk on the 20th relates to storage hosted at Appleton Tower, and that on the 21st to storage at JCMB. End times are approximate, based on previous experience.

Expected impact
None (but see separate alert regarding staffmail service). However, all services will be considered at risk while the upgrade is in progress, owing to the fact that normal operational redundancy cannot be maintained while individual components are in the process of being updated.
